REVISED ITINERARY FOR 2018

DURING YOUR STAY

Day 1 – After pick-ups we enjoy a leisurely journey to York where we spend a little free time. This beautifully preserved medieval city is a wonderful way to enjoy a couple of hours, with unique surroundings and a warm ambience why not enjoy a cup of tea (or coffee) in one of the cosy cafés around the city.

Day 2* – We cross the famous causeway to the Holy Isle of Lindisfarne where we visit the stunning Bamburgh Castle, one of the largest inhabited castles in the country. Once you’ve wandered through the 14 public areas and watched history being uncovered you can treat yourself to refreshments from the Clock Tower Tea Rooms.
Day 3 – This morning we take you to Whalton Manor Gardens, not open to the public, this exclusive tour will give you a first-hand insight into the gardens creation by Sir Edwin Lutyens and daily upkeep. After some free time, we return-back to our hotel and your afternoon is a leisure in Newcastle. If you decide to walk into town later, our hotel is conveniently located on the quayside, in the heart of the city.
Day 4 – After a leisurely morning, we travel to the wonderful Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens, here you can enjoy a couple of hours free time. The Belsay that visitors see today comprises of three distinct elements; a medieval castle, built in the early 17th century belonging to the Middleton family, a Greek Revival mansion designed in the 19th century, and an outstanding garden that links to the two magnificent buildings together.
Day 5 – After breakfast we will re-live the glorious days of the steam railway, with a special visit the Stephenson Railway Museum. You’ll find a range of fascinating locomotives on display, including George Stephenson’s ‘Billy’ – built in Newcastle around 1826 and used for hauling coal. After free time, we will continue our leisurely journey home.

*The exact timings of the day will depend on tidal times.
