Constable Country Landscapes Featuring Ickworth House

There are few places in Britain more picturesque than Constable Country in Suffolk. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this enchanting part of England was the birthplace of renowned artist John Constable and this year we invite you to join us as we explore this stunning rural landscape.

DURING YOUR STAY

Day 1 – Enjoy a relaxing journey as we travel to Ickworth House, this National Trust country estate brings a taste of classic Italy to Suffolk. Built for the Earl of Bristol in 1795, Ickworth is an astonishing Italianate structure topped by an impressive rotunda. Inside, you can discover its many treasures including; Georgian Silver, Regency furniture and family portraits by famous artists such as Gainsborough and Hogarth. After some free time to explore we continue to our hotel in Colchester. Day 2 – Today we will be joined by a qualified guide who will take us on a tour around the quaint villages of Long Melford, Cavendish, Clare, Long Melford, Bury St Edmunds and Lavenham.
Day 3 – Nestled in the breathtaking Suffolk countryside, our hotel is a beautifully converted water mill. As well as offering superb riverside walks, this hotel also boasts a relaxing environment to enjoy and this morning you get the chance to enjoy it before we visit Colchester this afternoon.
Day 4 – After breakfast we will be met by a knowledgeable guide who will take us on a tour of Constable Country on-board our comfortable coach. This full day guided tour will take you to East Bergholt, the picturesque village was the birthplace of John Constable where you can still see his studio and the place where his house once stood. Dedham, frequently rated as containing some of England’s most beautiful landscapes and Flatford Mill. Once owned by John Constable’s father, the Mill has been immortalised by John Constable in his painting of ‘The Haywain’ and is still recognisable today. We will end the day in the quintessentially British seaside town of Southwold. As well as sandy beaches and hut-lined promenade, Southwold offers a wonderful market town atmosphere.
Day 5 – After an enjoyable stay we return home with comfort breaks along the way.
