Nestled on the Irish Sea between England and Ireland, the Isle of Man is filled with natural beauty which ranges from rugged coastal cliffs through to flat plains and sandy beaches. On this revised trip for 2018, we stay on the island’s capital of Douglas where you will have free time to wander along the promenade and take in the stunning scenery. This trip is filled with lots of activities including excursions to Curraghs Wildlife Park and The Sound Visitor Centre, not forgetting a steam railway journey and of course, a delicious cream tea!
Revised itinerary for 2018
DURING YOUR STAY
Day 1 – After pick-ups, we travel towards Heysham for our ferry sailing to Douglas. We then travel to our hotel.
Day 2 – After a leisurely breakfast, we have a free day to explore the capital town of the Isle of Man, Douglas. Home to the Manx Museum, why not take a trip there and discover the exciting exhibits which include Viking gold. If you’re looking for some a little more relaxed, why not take a leisurely stroll along the promenade and admire the stunning seascape?
Day 3 – First on our agenda is a steam railway trip from Douglas to Port Erin. On arrival, we then head to the small Railway Museum which is located at the end of the railway line where you can learn about the history of the island’s railway network, plus – there’s also a café where you may like to treat yourself to a nice cup of tea. Our next stop takes us to The Sound Visitor Centre, which is one of the most picturesque points in the south of the island. Here you can enjoy the Bird Observatory along with plenty of other wildlife colonies. We end the day with an afternoon in the quaint village of Castletown.
Day 4 – This morning, we visit Curraghs Wildlife Park which specialises in wetland animals. It’s also home to endangered species, large cats, bird of prey, primates and favourites such as meerkats. This afternoon, we head to Miltown House & Gardens where you can explore all of the gardens and their beautiful blooms along with the chance to also enjoy a delicious cream tea.
Day 5 – We head back towards Douglas to catch our return ferry back towards home.
