Returning for its tenth year, the Buxton Military Tattoo will once again be bringing a spectacular performance of some of the United Kingdom’s finest bands inside the magnificent Devonshire Dome. This impressive building gives you the opportunity to experience the powerful spectacle of Buxton’s Military Tattoo closer to the action and the bands than any other Tattoo in the country! Plus, you’re even protected from the Great British weather by a spectacular dome!
Day 1 – This morning we travel to Buxton for free time. This afternoon, we have included admission into the Buxton Military Tattoo performance, loved by families, local residents and visitors alike.
Raising over £82,000 for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Buxton Tattoo takes place in the Devonshire Dome, one of the most dramatic spaces in Britain. Built in 1779 by the 5th Duke of Devonshire, this impressive Grade II listed building has dominated the Buxton skyline ever since. It is now home to a relaxed café, a well‐regarded restaurant and hosts some of the country’s premier events.
Day 2 – After breakfast we enjoy the morning in picturesque Ashbourne. With more than 200 listed buildings to explore, don’t miss the splendid façade of the Grade I listed Old Grammar School or the beautiful St Oswald’s Parish Chruch with its striking 212 feet high spire, described by classic author George Eliot as the ‘finest single spire in England’. After some free time, we return home.
The 17th Century Grade I listed Crewe Hall Hotel is set in extensive grounds in the stunning Cheshire countryside, with historic Jacobean and modern architecture. Guests can make use of the hotel’s leisure facilities, which include a spa with a swimming pool, a steam room, sauna and whirlpool.
