On this short break we infuse the characterful market town of Hereford with a journey on the Brecon Mountain Railway. This heritage railway runs through the Brecon Beacons and is a great way to witness the dramatic South Wales landscape up close
DURING YOUR STAY
Day 1 – This morning we visit Hereford, a lovely rural town with a friendly atmosphere and lots of things to do. Enjoy a stroll to the Hereford Cathedral, home to the 13th Century Mappa Mundi, the largest medieval map of the world in existence. Or, perhaps wander around the independent stores in the historical centre and call into the ‘Old Market.’ After some free time we continue to our hotel. Day 2 – Shortly after breakfast we enjoy a journey on the Brecon Mountain Railway, one of the ‘Great Little Trains of Wales’ travels from the main station inside an Observation Carriage behind a vintage Steam Locomotive, to Torpantau, following part of the original Brecon & Merthyr Railway which closed in 1964.
