Day 1 – Once on board we travel to Bourton-On-The-Water. Set in the idyllic heart of the Cotswolds, Bourton-On-The-Water is regularly voted as one of the prettiest villages in England. Here, we have arranged an afternoon tea at Mary’s Tea Rooms. Afterwards, we will continue our leisurely journey to the Barrowfield Hotel in Newquay.
Day 2 – Our first stop today is St Austell, Cornwall’s largest town dating back to the 13th Century. A short walk along Fore Street will take you to the historic core, home to the fine Holy Trinity Parish Church and the Italianate façade of the Market House. After some free time, this afternoon we visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan, with admission included. This ‘secret garden’ was accidently re-discovered in 1992 from under decades of tangled weeds. Today the fascinating gardens, and estate, offer over 200 acres of gardens and is a paradise for plant lovers, wildlife and garden romantics alike.
Day 3 – Today you are free to enjoy charming Newquay in your own time. Located on Cornwall’s Atlantic Coast, Newquay was recently voted as “One of the nations favourite seaside towns” in the prestigious Which? Holiday Survey. Newquay town centre is a short walk away from our hotel, so after a brisk walk on one of the beaches why not head to Newquay Zoo, or the Blue Reef Aquarium?
Day 4 – This morning we travel to Falmouth farmer’s market, this popular market set in the heart of Falmouth, sells fresh produce ranging from breads and cakes to nuts and spices. Later, we visit the Cathedral city of Truro, the UK’s most Southerly city. This great little city offers a unique shopping experience, as well as the impressive Truro Cathedral with its gothic towers which dominate the skyline.
Day 5 – After breakfast we visit Burnham-on-sea for a little bit of free time. Located in Somerset, this seaside resort blossomed during Victorian times and many of its finest buildings date back from that time. Today, it has everything you would expect in a traditional seaside destination including an elegant pier and tea shops. This afternoon we continue our leisurely journey back to the East Midlands, enjoying comfort stops along the way.
