Enjoy this enchanting break with overnight stays in the Lake District and the Isle of Man. Home to England’s largest National Park and captivating views that inspired the likes of William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, the Lake District is now a World Heritage Site. The Isle of Man is also an un-spoilt gem with an ever-changing landscape, where sandy beaches and pretty fishing harbours back onto rolling hills and lush valleys.
DURING YOUR STAY
Day 1 – Today we visit Northwich in Cheshire. Northwich’s success was initially built on the salt industry, with the town being dubbed ‘the salt capital of the world.’ In fact many of the structures and attractions you can visit today are the legacy of salt, so why not visit the breathtaking Anderton Boat Lift, stroll along the River Weaver or pop into the Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse. After some free time, we travel to the Shap Wells Hotel for a 4-night dinner, bed and breakfast stay.
Day 2 – This morning our driver will take you on a relaxing drive through the picturesque Lake District to Windermere. Home to England’s largest lake, Windermere and the surrounding area is arguably the most famous area in the Lake District. After some free time, this afternoon we visit Ambleside. Situated on the northern tip of Windermere, here you can find Cumbria’s tallest trees in Skelghyll Woods and the largest population of Goldeneye Ducks!
Day 3 – Our first stop today is in the pretty market town of Keswick, the most northerly of the Lake District major towns. Whilst here, perhaps visit the Keswick Museum or the Derwent Pencil Museum, home to the first ever pencil! This afternoon we travel to Buttermere, where we spend the remainder of the day. Maybe enjoy a leisurely walk around the lake.
Day 4 – After breakfast we visit Penrith for free time. This historic market town has a lot to offer, stroll around the cobbled lanes to discover a wealth of shops or unwind in the boutique cafés.
Day 5 – This morning we’ll wave goodbye to the Lake District and begin our journey over to the Isle of Man. Arriving in Douglas later this afternoon, we travel to The Hydro Hotel for a two night half board stay.
Day 6 – Today we have planned a full day trip around the stunning Isle of Man. During our tour we will enjoy leisurely breaks in Castletown, Port Erin – a small fishing community that offers superb coastal scenery and wonderful views out to the Calf of Man. We’ll end the day in Peel, located on the west coast of the island; Peel is a thriving fishing port aptly named “Sunset City.” Here, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the sun setting and maybe even a glimpse of the Mountains of Mourne.
Day 7 – After an early breakfast we will return back home.
