Join us in the beautiful country of Scotland. Together we will visit the Royal Yacht Britannia, the world’s most famous ship. The Kelpies – the world’s largest equine sculptures. – And, re‐discover the magnificent history of Edinburgh and Stirling on this fascinating not‐to‐be‐missed break to Scotland.
Day 1 – On our way to The Golden Lion Hotel, Stirling, we visit the Kelpies, the world’s largest equine sculptures. Where we have arranged a 45‐minute walking tour, this tour explains the vision of Andy Scott and tells the story of the real life working horses and the local history of the area.
Day 2 – This morning we visit Falkirk before we enjoy a journey on the Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway – Soak up the atmosphere on a heritage steam or diesel‐hauled train as we travel along the shore of the Firth of Forth with views of the majestic Ochil Hills, passing woodland, wild flowers and waterfalls. Afterwards, enjoy free time at the Museum of Scottish Railways – Scotland’s largest railway museum! Explore three large buildings filled with locomotives, carriages, wagons and other railway artefacts.
Day 3 – Enjoy free time to explore Stirling at your own pace today. Explore the royal history at Stirling Castle; visit the National Wallace Monument, which commemorates the life of Sir William Wallace. Alternatively, why not visit the Battle of Bannockburn Experience, this brand new exhibition puts you in the heart of the action. Learn how two kings – Robert the Bruce and Edward II tactics changed the path of Scottish history forever.
Day 4 – After breakfast we take you to Edinburgh, where we visit the Royal Yacht Britannia. Home to Her Majesty The Queen for over 40 years and sailing over one million miles it became the most famous ship in the world! To Her Majesty The Queen, Britannia proved to be the perfect Royal residence for glittering state visits, official receptions, Royal honeymoons and relaxing family holidays. For Great Britain, she was a majestic symbol of the Commonwealth and a proud ambassador. Now berthed in Edinburgh, today you can discover for yourselves the history of this magnificent vessel, wandering its five decks from the command centre of the Bridge through to the luxurious State Apartments to the Engine Room. Afterwards, we take you into Edinburgh where you can enjoy time at leisure.
Day 5 – We retrace our footsteps home with leisurely stops along the way.
For over 200‐years, guests have been welcomed in through the handsome stone entrance of the Golden Lion, with royalty and Scotland’s national bard, Robbie Burns, among them.
