Yorkshire Transport: Steam & Cruise

Join Laver Holidays in the county of Yorkshire for a wonderful break where you will enjoy a classic combination of steam and cruise journeys. On this relaxing break we have included an Afternoon Tea cruise on YorkBoat along the River Ouse, a canal cruise with tea and biscuits in Skipton, a journey on the famous Keighley & Worth Valley Railway – starring in the 1970 film adaptation of Edith Nesbit’s The Railway Children and a short journey on the Kirklees Light Railway.

Day 1 – Today, we travel to our hotel via the cosmopolitan city of Leeds. Here, we have some free time to wander around the city and perhaps enjoy a nice cup of tea in a quirky café.

Day 2 – We have a full day of excursions. First, we visit the National Railway Museum in York followed by a two hour afternoon tea cruise where you can enjoy dainty finger sandwiches, a fruit scone with jam and cream, delicious desserts and freshly brewed tea or coffee – all whilst cruising through the city. After, there is some free time in York’s city centre.
Day 3 – We have a day at leisure in Bradford
Day 4 – This morning we travel to Skipton, where we board a one hour boat cruise. Here you can enjoy tea and biscuits whilst admiring the beautiful view of the canal out of the window. This afternoon we depart to Keighley for a train journey to Oxenhope on Worth Valley Railway. There is also a cream tea on board to enjoy.
Day 5 –  It’s time for our final railway journey of trip – the Kirklees Light Railway. Admire the lovely South Pennine views before reaching our Shelley terminus, where you can enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding area. After, we make our way back home via the picturesque Peak District.
